Alpe d’Huez snow report 29.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Alpe d’Huez

There is 295cm of snow at the top of the Alpe d’Huez ski area with 167cm in resort. The last snowfall was yesterday when around 12cm fell.

There are 129 of the 136 runs open with 62 of the 65 ski lifts open also.

The forecast for the next three days is sunny spells and dustings of snow for three days.

The base layer and overall snow depth has continued to grow all season. Now and again we are having a little snowfall to top it up and give good powder conditions off-piste. The resort is not too crowded at present, making for enjoyable skiing and no lift queues on the pistes and plenty of fresh tracks to be had off the pistes.

Etalon, the resort’s rum bar, has invested in a cutlass. Opening bottles of champagne is no longer the mundane affair it once used to be. Now you can erupt in a flurry of bubbles and broken glass from 3pm to 2am any day of the week.
