Zermatt snow report 29.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt.

There is 205cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area with 70cm in resort. 15cm of fresh snow fell yesterday.

360km of pistes are open with 45 of the 70 Zermatt ski lifts open.

Mixed conditions are forecast for the next 3 days, with no particular weather set to dominate the week. Temperatures peak on Wednesday with an average of 0, and plunge towards the end of the week to -12. Scattered snow is forecast over the week, with top ups forecast to come in heavier towards Friday and Saturday. Winds have increased, and Saturday is set to see temperatures be reduced to -22 with heavier winds, notably at the top of the mountain.

Snowfall on Sunday has refreshed runs on and off piste. Snow coverage under the new powder is excellent, however conditions are changeable throughout the day as powder is swept off the hard pack underneath. Grip levels do remain high, without any ice, while low temperatures ensure that popular runs do not become slushy later in the day. Runs guests are particularly enjoying on Ski Hosting days are RED 15,19, 25 and BLUE 36, 37 and 14.
