Zermatt Snow Report, 24 Mar 2010
The sudden increase in temperature over the last few days has meant that the snow on the lower slopes has become soft, particularly on the runs into resort in the afternoon. Fortunately the Zermatt ski area is high so with Rothorn at 3103m, Gornergrat at 3089m and the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3883m all three branches of the area have good snow with the snow on the glacier being particularly good and the runs at Furggsattel are the place to be.
Tuesday has seen a sunny start. This is expected to continue into Wednesday with only the possibility of some light cloud in the morning. The cloud is forecast to build up on Wednesday night and Thursday will be cloudy with light snow falling mostly in the afternoon. Temperatures remain below zero at the mid station but hover just above zero at resort level
This coming weekend sees the Zermatt Telemark Festival when some top class exponents of this form of skiing will be on show.
