Zermatt Snow Report, 19 Mar 2010
The snow at resort level is starting to go a little soft towards the end of the afternoon. Otherwise the snow is in very good condition, particularly at altitude. Snow depths are 142cm at the top of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and 11cm in resort.
90% of the runs are open and it is only the yellow off piste itinerary runs that are closed. 53/55 lifts are open, the two T Bars mainly used for summer skiing are closed.
Ski Total guests have been marvelling at the still superb conditions at the Triftji bumps this week. The blue runs at Furggsattel still provide excellent conditions for the less experienced skier.
After a sunny start to Friday the clouds are expected to build during the day with the possibility of snow showers during the evening. Saturday and Sunday are forecast to remain cloudy with some light snow – perhaps a little more snow on Sunday night. Daytime temperatures range from just above freezing in resort to -10⁰C at the top of the ski area.
The next few days sees various live acts taking part in ‘Zermatt Groove’ at venues around the town.
