Zermatt Snow Report 16/04/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt.
There is 200cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area with the last snow fall coming on the 12th April with 12cm falling.
260 of the 360km of pistes are open to ski with 37 of the 54 lifts also open and working.
Within the next three days we are expecting pure sunshine, with low wind speeds. Highest temperatures this week shall reach 14 degrees in resort, so please get that sun cream lotion out!
Believe it or not ski conditions are still great in resort, even if it is the middle of April and the end of season is coming to an end. There is still a steady amount of snow, however it is advisable to ski runs which are higher on the mountain as the powder is fresher. Luckily this week lower down the mountain has also been reasonable for skiing in the afternoons. Although the snow has become a bit sticky this certainly offers a challenge for the more determined of guests. This week guests have stated that the majority of the runs in Italy are still perfect; number seven in particular has been highly popular with Ski Total company.
As sad as it may sound, yes the season is coming to an end…but fear not though there are plenty of Après ski parties to get involved in. With the continuous weather there is certainly the potential for BBQ’s too. Additionally this week James May from Top Gear is in resort so keeps those eyes peeled! Who knows who else you might bump into?!
