Zermatt Snow Report 12/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt
There is 220cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area with 30cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 8th March with around 5cm falling.
There are 360km of pistes open in the Zermatt ski area with 45 out of 70 ski lifts open.
Snow is predicted for the next three days with light snow forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Temperatures are set to drop away from Tuesday onwards, diving to around -18 on Thursday afternoon. Winds are also set to pick up, with wind chill bringing temperatures down to -28. However the sun is scheduled to arrive on Friday, with temperatures rising and skies clearing.
Snow still remains fantastic for this time of the season with runs fresh all day long. A healthy base layer of snow means runs are fully covered, with runs even down into resort remaining perfectly skiable all day long. New and experienced skiers alike have something to enjoy all over resort, with a wide variety of runs, ranging from open and cruisey blues to fantastic fast undulating reds. Guests on hosting are particularly enjoying runs RED 9, 15, 28 and BLUE 7, 27 and 5
For those wanting another type of speed thrill, go and experience the Toboggan run at Zermatt , open every Tuesday and Thursday until 7.30pm. For those wishing to have a little more of a relaxed afternoon, be sure to check out the many après bars and restaurants in resort and on the mountain. With everything from Hennu Stall, a party arena for those on skis, to the Cave, a glass enclosure within the mountain face, Zermatt as a refuge for anyone and everyone!
