Zermatt snow report 11.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt.
There is 200cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area and 55cm in the town. Overnight and this morning there has been 25cm of fresh snow.
Much needed snow arrives in Zermatt for the next week, with consistent snow fall every day for the next week averaging at about 5cm a day. Temperatures return to typical level, with an average temperature of -12. Wind chill levels also increase, bringing the temperature down to -20.
Ski conditions in Zermatt are currently fantastic, with temperatures in the past week keeping snow fresh. Blue sky days have allowed for beautiful ski days, but the oncoming powder should not be viewed as a negative. Powder days are set to make for some fantastic on piste skiing with guests being able to make their own tracks on first lifts. Be sure to make the most of the Sunnegga side of Zermatt for brilliant tree surrounded skiing in fantastic snow.
Zermatt sees the end of the New year celebrations this weekend as Russian New Year wraps up on the 12th, culminating with parties and fireworks all around the town. Next week sees the arrival of the Swiss Curling championships, which is a must see event for fans of the sport, as well as the casual passer by.
