Zermatt Snow Report, 09 Mar 2010
90% of the runs in the resort are open including all of the main pisted runs and the links to Cervinia. The runs closed are still some of the yellow off piste itinerary runs and the few short runs at the top of the glacier used for summer
The cold weather and the recent top up of fresh snow has ensured that the snow on the pistes remains in superb condition. This is especially true at altitude and the blue runs at Furggsattel, the runs at Riffelberg and those from Rothorn Paradise and Blauherd are all a joy to ski.
Off-piste is still a little varied with everyone searching out the pockets of windblown powder around areas as Triftji and among the trees at Sunnegga.
Tuesday has started with bright sunshine and a clear but cold morning is on the cards. It is forecast to cloud over this afternoon with the prospect of some light snow overnight. Wednesday and Thursday are both expected to be cloudy with the possibility of more light snow, mostly in the afternoon and early evening.
The mountain top hotel at the top of the Gornergrat railway hosts a starlight dinner this evening. Wednesday night sees more live music at Nelly’s bar.
