Zermatt snow report 08.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt
There is 195cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area with 58cm down in resort. The last snow came on the 2nd of January when 3cm fell.
There are 330 of the 360 runs open and 45 of the 54 lifts are open too.
Weather is set to change over the next three days with a greyer level of variation creeping into conditions. Wednesday sees the start of intermittent sunshine with light cloud, with the return of snow showers over Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Temperatures are set to drop off from Friday, with Saturday seeing temperatures drop to -21. Wind chill factor increases as well, combined with the freezing level dropping well down into the valley.
Ski conditions remain excellent and still hold a huge amount of variety. Temperatures remain low enough for snow to remain fresh, with pistes being looked after overnight to allow great ski conditions day in day out. Sunengga and Patrullarve remain quiet with powder and a huge variety of runs to chose from. Runs that guests are particularly enjoying on hosting are RED 15, 4, 41, 7, and BLUE 36, and 7.
If you are looking for something different to compliment your weeks skiing, why not follow in the steps of Edward Whympner, the first man to climb the Matterhorn successfully, by taking a guided tour of the Monte Rosa, his planning and departure point. Alternatively, take in the night sky by having a starlit dinner at the top of the mountain in the Gornergrat hotel.
