Zermatt Snow Report, 06 Apr 2010
All of the main pisted runs are open, including the links to Cervinia and the long and scenic yellow run ‘Marmotte’ from the top of Rothorn Paradise is now open.
Conditions on the pistes remain excellent at altitude, which is a large proportion of the ski area, but in the late afternoon the snow on the lower slopes is a little soft.
Tuesday has started with clear blue skies and glorious sunshine. Tuesday and Wednesday are both expected to be bright with some sunshine at times during the day and the possibility of some light snow showers in the evenings and overnight.
Temperatures at village level are above freezing during the day (reaching a maximum of 7C) but range to -12C (-18C with the wind chill factor) during the day at the top of the ski area. Have those layers handy.
Tuesday evening sees a Starlight Dinner at the Gornergrat Hotel at 3089m, reached via the historic Gornergrat funicular railway which winds its way from the centre of Zermatt into the mountains.
