Zermatt Snow Report, 01 Feb 2011
Snow depth in resort: 8cm
The light dusting of snow has added to the already excellent on piste condition here in Zermatt. The majority of the snow fell higher up on the Glacier, however there was a lot more snow over the border in Cervinia where there are reports of powder on and off the piste, so if you’re heading to Zermatt it is well worth purchasing the full area pass and making the most of the excellent runs down to Valtourneche and Cervinia.
Even though there has been limited snowfall in Zermatt the piste workers are hard at work every evening ensuring you can still ski all the way back into the town, with this run being in excellent condition.
The weather for the next couple of days is set to be clear and sunny, but still remaining cold keeping the pistes in great condition.
The resort is starting to get excited about the famous Luttman Johnson race organised by the Ski Club of Great Britain. Tomorrow is the first day to register for the competition and everyone is looking forward to it. And those people who are staying during the week commencing the 5th February can also take part. The race comprimises of teams of 2, either two skiers or 2 snowboarders. Everyone dresses up and spends the day skiing between mountain restaurants spending as little time on the piste and as much time enjoying a drink!
