Zermatt snow report 01.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt
There is 190cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area with 55cm in resort. The last snowfall was 5cm on the 29th December.
There are 162 of the 360 runs open with 46 of the 54 lifts open
Zermatt is due to have light snowfall today (1/1), with clear skies throughout the week and a possibility of light snowfall towards the weekend. Temperatures remain high relative to the time of season, with an average temperature of -4. However make sure to still wrap up, with winds especially at Trockener Steg and Cervinia reducing that temperature considerably. Skies are set to remain clear for perfect blue sky ski days.
Despite not having a snowfall in the past few days, the pistes are still in fantastic condition, with low temperatures keeping powder in good conditions. Now is the time to be making the most of wide open carving runs such as RED15, 42, 44 and BLUE 45, 36 and 7. The Sunegga side of the mountain is particularly enjoyable at the moment, with shorter lift queues and a huge variety of runs to choose from. Snow coverage is still very good, with little to no ice patches, combined with the pistes being cared for overnight making them good to ski from the start until the end of the day
