Verbier Snow Report 19/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Verbier

There is 280cm of snow at the top of the Verbier ski area with 120cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on Saturday with 17cm of fresh snow falling.

100% of the ski runs in Verbier are open along with all 36 ski lifts

The next three days in resort look to be picture perfect with bright sunshine and blue skies all day everyday, temperatures at an average of -6 degrees Celsius  getting slightly colder towards the end of the week when some snow may appear on Friday night going into Saturday morning. The temperatures will drop to around -11 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday  Currently the weather in resort is blinding sunshine and light winds from the NE, with a warm temperature of -4 degrees Celsius.

After the large amounts of snowfall we had throughout last week, (nearly one metre) the snow conditions here in Verbier are still great, with fresh snow being kept crisp by the cold temperatures. The past weekend going into minus 20s at times, and another sprinkling expected later on in the week, you couldn’t ask for more. This weeks weather is going to be amazing, with bluebird days everyday of the week, bright sunshine and blue skies means less layers and more sun screen perfect for all those having a break at half term here.

With it being half term this week there’s plenty of exciting events and spectacles happening in resort, firstly The Verbier Sport + Carnival is a fun ski day which takes place on the Moulins ski slope. Kids are invited to put on fancy dress for the day which is a true family fun event and jointly organised by the Swiss Ski School and Verbier Sport+, definitely one to join in on or at least head over and watch as plenty of vin chaud will be available. If you fancy something a little different combined with a spot of night time exercise and a moonlight adventure, the Jean Pierre piste in Nendaz will be open on a weekly basis for ski touring and snow shoe walks between 18:00 and 22:00, really worth doing while you’re here for the week. Of course the Farinet are still providing us with excellent après ski entertainment throughout the week with live music from 6:30pm, and plenty of spectacles in there, our very own prince harry himself was spotted in there on Monday night and then enjoying a meal at La Vache at the top of the Attelas lift, half term here in Verbier is fantastic weather and the chance of bumping into royalty, not a bad combination.
