Verbier Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010
This week has been a very sunny. With fantastic conditions after some snowfall earlier in the week and blue skies providing fantastic visibility, the views, particularly from the top of Mont Fort at 3330m, have been amazing.
At 1500m the snow depth is approx. 15cm. By 2200m the snow depth increases to around 148cm and right at the top at 3300m there is 180cm of snow.
The piste bashers have been excelling themselves this week with piste maintenance. This has meant great skiing, especially for carvers and speed demons.
Temperatures have remained low and with the sunshine and clear visibility skiing at all levels in Verbier this week has been good.
With snow just starting to fall, the pistes will be topped up nicely for the next few days.
With some light snow forecast over the next couple of days to top up the pistes, the sun is set to remain with us in Verbier for what should be some fantastic skiing conditions.
The local gossip this week is that Richard Branson has been in town. Everyone has been keeping an eye for a glimpse of the famous entrepreneur.
