Val Thorens Snow Report 22/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val Thorens

There is 335cm of snow at the top of the Val Thorens ski area with 175cm of snow in resort. There was a light dusting of fresh snow this morning in resort.

All 150km’s of pistes are open in the Val Thorens ski area with all 32 lifts also open.

Never have we been treated to so many consecutive days of pure sunshine in Val Thorens. All week, the sun has been shining its brightest, beaming down on us all so smugly as if to say ‘you’re welcome’. And indeed we are. Though for the piste’s sake, we are all heavily anticipating the snowfall predicted to arrive over the weekend. Ice is beginning to creep into some of the lower areas of resort, such as Les Menuires, so I would suggest skiing over the valley into Orelle where you will find the slopes still in excellent condition and far more tranquil. The forecast promises us snow Saturday, Sunday and Monday with temperatures dropping to an average of -15 degrees. A ‘Mini Mountain Tour’ is unraveling from Saturday onwards in Place De Caron showing off the four wheel drive mini in the snow. An ESF torchlight descent will take place there on Monday at 6:30pm with free mulled wine for all!
