Val Thorens Snow Report, 22 Mar 2011
After a week of unsettled weather and snowfall the resort awoke to another day of glorious sunshine yesterday. The recent snowfall has topped up the pistes quite nicely with around 200cm at the top and 100cm in resort.
The weekend was off-piste paradise with fresh tracks to be had by all. The local services have been working extremely hard to clear any avalanche danger areas and the risk was showing at 2/5 this afternoon. Temperatures in resort hover around the -5 mark keeping the snow in excellent condition. All lifts and pistes were open yesterday here in VT.
With all of the holidays out of the way the 3 valleys seemed rather empty yesterday allowing for some nice cruising to be done. Spring snow has started to form at the very low areas such as St Martin & Meribel Village but we are happy to say these areas are still accessible.
For the next few weeks Val Thorens sees an array of musical gigs and snow competitions whilst our neighbouring valley Meribel has just hosted the little world festival, the Alps most popular Music & Comedy event. With the weather set to stay cold and bright for the nest week, we have yet another great week of skiing ahead.
