Val Thorens Snow Report 08/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val Thorens
There is 320cm of snow at the top of the Val Thorens ski area with 145cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 24th Feb with around 5cm falling.
There are 100% of pistes open in the Val Thorens ski area with 100% ski lifts open.
After a week of warm sunshine filled days and many snowless nights, I am thrilled to announce that at long last it is SNOWING! And in Val Thorens, when it snows, it really snows. A whole 10 cm of fresh powder will make its way gently down into resort by the end of the day eliminating any evidence that there ever was any slush or ice sneaking onto the piste. In addition, we are promised a thin blanket of snow tomorrow so I would advise skiing to lower areas of the resort and even into Saint Martin to avoid poor visibility.
Sun and cloud is forecast for Sunday and Monday with temperatures maintaining an average of -6. Kicking off at 7pm on Monday evening, a glittering torchlight descent made up of the expert instructors of ESF will unravel down the main piste. To end the descent with a BANG, fireworks will be set off and free mulled wine will be served in the Place de Caron. For those unaware, hilarity will always ensue where fireworks are involved.
