Val Thorens Snow Report, 01 Mar 2011

Val Thorens, FranceWell after a weekend of constant snowfall the resort awoke yesterday to probably the most awesome skiing day ever, with over a foot of fresh powder, mostly untouched.

Both piste and off piste conditions were fantastic and although the weather reports showed clouds and further snow, we enjoyed a relatively sunny day in Val Thorens. The temperatures stayed below freezing and that squeaky snow sensation lasted throughout the day… Tuesday started with more snow falling and another 20cm is expected this week.

Whatever happens now the resort has enough snow to last until the end of the season. Avalanche blasting was carried out in the early morning and the resort was deemed safe by 9am and consequently all the lifts and links are open.
