Val d Isere Snow Report, 18 Jan 2011

Chalet Lucaval, Val d'IsèreSnow – top of ski area:   123cm of snow on the upper slopes

Snow depth in resort:   52cm

Conditions are epic! The sun is shining in the sky without a cloud in sight and everyone is out enjoying the good snow and good weather! I was quite nervous about doing the infamous ‘Face’ in these conditions on a pair of skis however I found it quite exhilarating, and everything from the Pasillas Glacier to the Tignes Glacier is smooth riding, and even the lower slopes are enjoyable!

It’s going to be sunny for the next few days! Of curse there will be the odd cloud hanging about, but it’s nothing to be afraid of! And let me tell you, my goggle tan is improving by the day, I’m becoming a true seasonnaire!!

With the display of the Polo Master Tournament last week you’d wonder what could be done to top this! Well Val is having an epic celebration on Thursday with a Nuit rouge which will include a parade and of course the mandatory ice carving followed by a torch lit Descent! And I’m pretty sure I was sitting next to Jake Wood who plays Max Branning on Eastenders yesterday on a lift! That’s the beauty of Val, you’ll spot the odd celebrity dotting about!!
