Val d Isere Snow Report, 09 Mar 2010

Chalet Lucaval, Val d'IsèreThe snow depth reaches 198cm at the top of the Pissaillas glacier with 126cm on the lower Espace Killy slopes.

The resort woke up to clear blue skies again this morning after a cracking Monday. The pisteurs have been working hard at grooming the runs so they are in the best condition they could be: smooth, flat and very skiable.

Piste L is one of the favourites at the moment, in this kind of weather it is a sundrenched canyon, and the snow on the Roches from the top of the glacier is on perfect cruising form. Snow is forecast mid-week which will be ideal!

A mixture of clear skies and some much needed fresh snow to freshen up the off piste areas. Temperatures are remaining cold but bearable so the snow is going no where, and ice is nowhere to be seen.

It’s all about the Winter X-Games this week!! It’s the talk of the town and the excitement is positively tangible. From the giant half pipe and the enormous kickers down the side of the Double M piste, to the promotion tents in the middle of Val Claret, the Tignes is looking well prepared for the arrival of the world’s best extreme sportsmen and women. Roll on Wednesday!
