Val d Isere Snow Report, 09 Apr 2010

Val d'IsèreThere is still superb snow in the Espace Killy with 185cm snow at the top of the Pissaillas glacier and 96cm on the lower slopes.

The sunshine is once again attracting everybody to the mountain. Obviously this warm weather is affecting the snow and the lower pistes are becoming quite soft in the afternoons.   The Le Fornet glacier and most of the runs around Tignes le Lac are still good places to ski.

The sun should stay shining throughout today and we can expect the same tomorrow. Hopefully our new arrivals on Sunday will be welcomed by snow – snow-forecast.com predicts 2cm during the day.

Once again the hype at the moment is the end of season sales. At the moment everybody is either bargain hunting or soaking up the sunshine in resort and on piste!

On Wednesday we had a Green Eye Valley Rally, also knows as the Rat Race which took part across Espace Killy. Each team that entered was given a list of clues leading to certain points from le Fornet to Tignes le lac. Our team didn’t do so well but everyone had fun in the sun! Also, yesterday in Tignes le Lac there was a special ‘water ski’ event! Anybody could try there luck at skiing or boarding over a pool of water! Fun and games!
