Val d Isere Snow Report, 08 Mar 2011
Snow depth in resort: 73cm
This week I have no stories about epic powder days, instead I’m being forced to ski host! I say forced, it’s actually one of the perks of the job! I went out with some guests yesterday to take them around the Espace Killy and we covered quite a lot of ground and skied some of the best conditions I’ve experienced all season!
The snow right from the peaks of the Passiallas Glacier, right down to Val centre is amazing with no icy patches and a soft top layer to help put in those big carving turns!
The sun helped conditions to no end, and it was difficult to leave the restaurant after lunch as we sat basking in the rays, I have to admit, I have been invincible this season when it comes to sun burn but I’m looking rather pink today!
Once again the sun is splitting the mountains and there is nothing but bright blue skies above! This weather will continue for the next few days, so remember to slap on some sun cream.
Peak season is over and the pistes have become just a little bit quieter, enough for me not to worry about skiing over young children. This week the ESF is having another freestyle demo and the mandatory torch lit descent, and on Thursday the town centre will turn into a carnival with ice sculpting and of course complimentary vin chaud.
