Val d Isere Snow Report, 08 Feb 2011

Val d'IsèreSnow depth at the top of ski area:          120cm of snow on the upper slopes

Snow depth in resort:                                   50cm

The ‘pisteurs’ in Val all deserve Blue Peter badges because despite it having not snowed in a while the pistes are still in top condition due to all the hard work they are putting in.

My parents are out this week and yesterday we were skiing the greens and blues above La Daille. The snow conditions on these slopes are perfect for putting in huge carving turns and cruising about. The sun makes it a pleasure to stop for a drink on the mountain restaurants sun terraces.

Today is yet another blue bird day and this amazing sunshine is going to stick around over the next couple of days.

This awesome sunny weather couldn’t come at a better time for ‘Bordeaux on Snow’, a 2 day wine tasting event and introduction to oenology with some of the Bordeaux wine makers top ‘Grand Cru’ wines. This is taking place on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon at the foot of the slopes in the town centre.
