Top 5 Activities in Avoriaz
It is hard to choose but if you insist writes Phillipa Risby here are our top five favourite activities in Avoriaz.
Aquariaz is the highest water part in Europe! Featuring things to keep adults and children alike entertained. A great way to spend an aprés evening or when it’s a white out head over to Aquariaz and chill out in the out door hot tub! Or brave the aquatic half pipe!
This type of water park is found nowhere else in the mountains, the perfect place to relax with a lazy river and massage benches after a hard cold day’s skiing!
After a massive snow fall towards the end of January, the Igloo Ice bar was built! Comprising of stunning intricate ice carvings, located mid way down the stade d’Arare slope, accessed by Lac-Intrêts chairlift. A great place to grab a drink, and admire the stunning art work, featuring an ice bed and many other amazing features!
The stash Park was voted the world best snow park by CNN last year, and as soon as you get here you’ll see why! Designed by the probably the most famous snowboard designer Burton, the Stash is built of all natural materials blending into the trees that head down in to the Linderet bowl. The bowl itself is great fun after a fresh snow fall, and is relatively sheltered for storm days. So the addition of wooden rails and some more unique obstecals make the Stash phomominal fun, whether your a free style pro or just like to pop the odd kicker or even admire the skills of the pros! In addition to the Stash; Avoriaz has a total of 5 other snow parks, with the first being built in 1993. Avoriaz was one of the first resorts to welcome snowboarders with open arms, this legacy is reflected in the Avoriaz freestyle scene today
Horse and Sleigh
Since there are no cars or buses in Avoriaz the only way to travel (in style) is in a horse and sleigh. A unique feature of Avoriaz, giving the village a real winter wonderland feel! Not only a quick and convenient way to get around the village, but the drivers will take you to see some off the most beautiful views looking over Morzine and surrounding towns. After a hard day skiing why not use a horse and sleigh to get back to your chalet, wrapped up in a blanket, with the bells on the horse ringing as it trots along
