Tignes snow report 01/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Tignes
There is 275cm of snow at the top of the Tignes ski area with 128cm in resort. There is a massive 50cm of snow forecast over the next week.
206km of pistes are open in Tignes with 62 of the 89 ski lifts open too.
We wake up this morning to an extremely snowy view out of the window. Snow is falling heavily throughout the valley. The streets are being slowly but surely covered in a thick, soft white layer.
Yesterday however there was superb sunshine through the Espace Killy. We skied over to Rocher de Bellevarde and enjoyed the sprawling mountain vista of the Val D’Isere ski area.
The Santons blue piste was in perfect condition as we found our way down through the valley and into the centre of Val D’isere. Next stop was Glacier de Pissaillas which sits next to Col de L’Iseran at 2762m.
The snow high up on the glacier was simply heavenly. Soft and smooth snow covered pistes such as Combe de Géant, Cascade and Pissaillas and we enjoyed it all under beautiful sunshine. Gliding down the glacier we decided to stop for a drink on the terrace of the cafe.
The heavy snowfall of today may shield our usual awesome view of the mountains momentarily however we know that this simply ensures that great skiing will continue in Tignes for the rest of the season as here there is always consist, reliable and superb snowfall.
