St Anton Snow Report 19/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in St Anton

There is 250cm of snow at the top of the St Anton ski area with 90cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on Friday last week with 5cm of fresh snow falling.

100% of the ski runs are open in St Anton with 76 of the 79 ski lifts are open.

If you are packing your bags be sure to include some sun cream and sunglasses as the sun is shining in St Anton. There is ample opportunity for photographs on the slopes this week as the clear skies are expected to continue over the next few days. There is a possibility of a flutter of snow on Wednesday which would add to the atmosphere and create truly perfect powder skiing. With clear skies comes cold nights, so be sure to wear plenty of layers as temperatures are dropping to -12 degrees.

The last flutter of snow arrived on 15/02/13, meaning it has had time to settle and be groomed into ideal condition for enthusiastic skiers looking to fly down the slopes. The snow in Sonnenkopf is particularly good and well worth a visit for anybody looking to explore quieter, family friendly slopes. With it being half term in the UK this week be aware that the first lifts are a bit busier than usual so a top tip is to head down ten minutes early in order to beat the queues and be the first to explore the delights of the Arlberg area.

The weekly ski show returns on Wednesday at 21:00 where the instructors give an insight into the history of skiing and demonstrate real technique on the slopes. With the event being free to attend it is a real highlight of the week for most and is definitely worth a watch. With many families in resort this week the toboggan run evenings are shaping up to be extremely popular. These take place at 19:30 on Tuesday on Thursday from the Rodelbahn at the top of the Nasserein lift.
