Solden Snow Report 26/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden

There is 273cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with around 45cm in resort. The last snowfall was on Monday with 20cm falling.

There are 147km of pistes open in the Solden ski area with 29 of the 33 ski lifts also open

The high cloud this morning will clear up by this afternoon, bringing out the sunshine. Overnight, the clouds will return and bring light snow which will continue into Wednesday. By Thursday all evidence of the clouds and snow will disappear and there will be wall-to-wall sunshine for the remainder of the week! Temperatures are a little warmer this week with lows of minus 6 today – this will rise by a couple of degrees throughout the week, and will feel much warmer in the sunshine! The wind will be generally light.

With over a foot of snow, which fell all day on Sunday, the quality of snow on the pistes is fantastic with oodles of fluffy powder on and off piste! May be hard pushed to find any untracked off-piste – due to the powder hunters yesterday… but it will still be knee-deep and soft. High season means the fresh snow on piste is getting a bit churned up by the end of the day on the busier runs, making it quite hard work on your tired legs by the end of the afternoon – so be careful as this is when the most injuries happen!

The (e)Motions Night Ski Show is happening on Wednesday night at the mid-station of the Gaislachkogl gondola station with musical entertainment from rock-cover band Neuland. If you fancy going up for the night skiing on floodlit run 10, then tickets are available from the lift pass offices and you can zoom down the empty piste from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. For something completely different, later on Wednesday, all the way from L.A., DJ Motiv8, the original DJ from the Black Eyes Peas, will be on the turntables in local club, Katapult! With free entry, it would be rude not to! It’ll definitely be a worthwhile night – so get your dancing shoes out!!
