Solden snow report 25.12.2012
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden
There is 162cm of snow at the top on the glacier and 10cm of snow in resort. We had 1cm of snow fall today on Christmas.
The sun is forecast to stay out this Christmas – so not a proper white Christmas with snow falling… but it still looks very Christmassy out there compared to back home!! In between sunny spells there will be some snow showers tomorrow set to bring around 18cm of snow and the next couple of days will bring a little fresh snow too. Temperatures are set to stay a little higher with plus 3 or 4 degrees Celsius down in town and a pleasant minus 3 or 4 on the mountain.
29 of the 33 lifts are open serving the 35 pistes that are open.
The sun has been shining for the past couple of days in Solden which has warmed up the slopes – so you don’t need as many layers on the mountain!! Cloudless skies mean perfect light conditions. The slopes have all been perfectly groomed and empty in the morning, but since it’s Christmas week, they are busying up by the afternoon.
Since it’s Christmas, today is Chalet Herman’s special Christmas feast with crackers and carols around the Christmas tree, the guests are getting in the Christmas spirit with several woolly Christmas jumpers and Santa hats at breakfast. ‘Santa’ has already made an appearance to hand out chocolates!
This week it’s all kicking off in Solden with the start of the Maxx Mountain events, including the Night Ski Show and night skiing which is starting tomorrow!! The ‘Souljackers’ are getting the winter season party started with a mixtures of covers from the 50s right up to recent chart hits. As it’s the first night skiing of the season it’s not to be missed!!
