Solden snow Report 23 Mar 2012
In general the snow is still in good condition. Glacier skiing offers, as always, fantastic snow – especially first thing in the morning when it has just been groomed. However, even by the afternoon, and despite the volume of people flocking to the best snow, slopes are still in good condition up there. Resort is a lot quieter this week too, which means that several of pistes which aren’t the linking pistes or home runs are staying in very good condition for longer.
The sun is forecasted to stick around a little longer in Sölden – and despite some lingering clouds bringing light snow showers this afternoon, tomorrow and Sunday, the sun will still be shining. The heaviest snow shower will be Saturday afternoon, with 2cm of snow predicted to fall. Temperatures will remain quite mild, with highs of 10 degrees Celsius at resort level and highs of minus 4 at the top of the ski area. Wind will remain very light – which means the temperatures in the sunshine will feel quite warm – so find yourself a deck chair or a bean bag and take advantage of the lovely weather!
It’s Friday here in Sölden which means another Maxxx Mountain Sölden Party at the top of the Giggijoch gondola. This week, 5-piece British band, The Bogus Brothers, will be taking to the stage, playing a varied set with a range of hits from the past 50 years. Complete with trumpet and trombone, a crazy front man who has several wardrobe changes on stage, and having played at big events throughout Europe, they will certainly be getting the Après-ski party started!
