Solden snow report 19.12.2012

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden

The snow at the top of the Solden glacier is sitting at 152cm with 10cm down in resort. Yesterday we had a downfall of 4cm.

At the moment there are 91%of the runs open with 28 out of 33 lifts open.

Despite some light snow showers, it will be mainly sunny today, but temperatures are very low – with a maximum of minus 18 this afternoon at the top of the ski area!! It is also a bit breezy up there which will make it seem even colder. Temperatures are rising into Thursday which is bringing more snow in the afternoon and heaviest overnight. Friday will continue to be a little snowy but visibility should be better!

The fresh snowfall over the past couple of days has left a thin layer of powder on the perfectly groomed pistes. It’s still low season in Solden and therefore the runs are practically empty – leaving runs susceptible to getting lumpy still in good condition in the afternoon! The off-piste was beginning to get quite skied out but the snow yesterday has formed a nice layer of powder on top. From resort this morning it looks like a white out… but luckily the cloud is only in the valley and conditions up in the ski area are nice and sunny!

The tobogganing from Silbertal is in full swing on the 5km floodlit ‘Rodelbahn’. Open from 10:45pm until 1am, as it’s used as a road during the day, it’ll put your evening in for you – with a couple of bars to try out before you hop on your toboggans and ride back into town! Available to book from the office across from Marco’s Treff.
