Solden Snow Report 12/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden
There is 244cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 20cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 9th March with around 6cm falling.
There are 100% of pistes open in the Solden ski area with 31 out of 35 ski lifts open.
It’s bright this morning, but the clouds are closing in and are forecast to bring snow this afternoon with it being heaviest overnight with a predicted 10cm to fall on the ski area. The snow will continue all day Wednesday and will be lighter, but still prominent throughout Thursday and into Friday. The milder temperatures at the start of the week (highs of minus 4-6) will drop around 10 degrees Celsius by Thursday, bringing lows of minus 15. The wind will pick up by Thursday, making it feel more like minus 23-25 with wind chill factor. On the glacier it will be a further 10 degrees Celsius colder but is looking brighter Thursday and Friday, compared to mid-station.
Get up there early to race down the freshly groomed pistes, as the milder temperatures mean the lower slopes suffer a little in the afternoon, with the snow turning a little slushy. Head up high, above 2000m, to find the best snow quality – the slopes on the glacier are almost perfect – just a little icy in the shade! The slopes are still quite busy – the main linking lifts getting a little busier at peak times, but in general the queues are quite fast moving due to Soelden’s modern lifts!!
Wednesday night is the final Night Ski Show, a little more special, And starting a little later at around 8pm, with the last ski school Performance and the most impressive finale of fireworks of the
season! Gondola ascents are running until 9:00pm, with musical entertainment from DJ Christoph from 6pm and also from band, The Les Cloechards, German rock party band who will be playing later than usual – with the last gondola rides going down at 11pm.
Also this Wednesday at Katapult, Micaela Schaefer, German Model and show girl, will be there for a Meet & Greet, as well as a DJ set and very probably some nudity, if the promotional posters are anything to go by!!
For something a little less risqué, head to the live music at LIVE Bar, with live music every Wednesday, it will definitely be a little more chilled out!
