Solden Snow Report 12/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden
There is 256cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 25cm in resort. There is snow forecast for today with around 4cm due to fall.
All 37 of the ski runs in Solden are open with 29 of the 33 ski lifts open.
Snow will be heaviest overnight tonight but will ease off by the morning. The clouds may still be lingering, but the sun will be making a welcome appearance in the morning, if only short-lived, as more snow showers are forecast for the afternoon. By Thursday the weather front will have passed, and it will be glorious sunshine and blue skies all day and into Friday. Temperatures will be rather chilly still tomorrow with lows of minus 18 on the glacier, but it will get milder when the sun comes out on Thursday with highs of minus 11. The wind on Wednesday will make it feel a good 5 degrees colder.
Lots of fresh snow today means oodles of fluffy powder to play in – on piste and off piste!! The snowfall and low clouds are making visibility a little poorer, though, so head to the tree runs for some definition. Temperatures are still pretty low, though not as low as the past couple of days – so layer up to keep warm, especially when the snow is wet. Looking forward to tomorrow when the sun comes out for some perfect skiing conditions!
Today is Faschingsdienstag, or Shrove Tuesday, as we know it, so the hotel is going all out on pancakes for everyone today. Austrian celebrations are a little bit different, so don’t be surprised to see a lot of costumes on the piste and around town this week!!
Wednesday night is, of course, the Maxxx Mountain Night Ski Show at the mid-station of the gondola. At 7:30pm the show will kick off, with an impressive show from the Soelden ski schools as well as a fabulous firework display at 8pm. Party band, The Souljackers will be entertaining the crowds – so why not take a break from night skiing for a boogie with a selection of hits spanning 5 decades. If that has got you the mood for some classic pop, then on your ski back down, why not stop off at Phillip’s bar for a ‘Back to the 80s’ party from 7pm!!
