Solden Snow Report 05/04/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden
There is 270cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 10cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 5th April with around 4cm falling.
There are 100% of pistes open in the Solden ski area with 88% ski lifts open.
Light snow is forecasted to continue to fall all day today and into tomorrow. On Sunday the snow will ease off overnight and Monday morning is looking a little more promising with just light snow showers! However, it will thicken up into the afternoon, bringing around 14cm of snow by Tuesday. Temperatures are staying quite mild, with lows of minus 5 at mid-station and highs of plus 4 in town, which means the snow may turn to rain down in town. It is cooler on the glacier, though, and wind is generally light, so there won’t be much wind-chill factor.
The wall-to-wall sunshine we’ve had since Monday has come to an end here in Soelden: the clouds have closed in and snow is falling – a much more wintery picture! Though visibility will be poorer, this is great news for the snow on the slopes – and let’s face it, we’ve been spoilt this week with the sunshine!! After Easter weekend, the slopes have quietened down, and will continue to do so until the end of the season. The temperatures are staying quite mild, though, so there will be some hints of Spring today – possibly in the form of rain!
Tomorrow is the start of the Gay Snow happening in Solden!! Every year like-minded people flock to Soelden for a week of skiing and partying!! And the good news is we can join in too – you can either buy the full party pass which will get you access to all the events happening, or you can pick and
choose for sometimes a small entrance fee! Tomorrow is the opening, so there’s a ‘Welcome Party’ at Katapult from 9pm to get to know everyone, or re-unite with those you met last year (entrance is €5)!
Sunday is the first of the Ski guiding, meeting at the Giggijoch, and stopping for lunch at the
Schwarzkogl restaurant. Après-ski will be at Schirmbar at the Hotel Liebe Sonne, and if you’d like to join in at night, there’s A Karaoke night at SnowRock Café (entrance €5).
Monday’s ski guiding are stopping for lunch at Gampe Thaya and Gampe Alm on Red 11, with après-ski at Mogul. The evening activity is moonlit bowling at the Freizeit Arena, with a big party in the leisure centre too. With all this happening in Solden there’s plenty happening in our last week!!
