Solden snow report 05/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden
There is 240cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 10cm in resort. It is currently snowing with around 30cm falling at the top of the ski area.
27 of the 40 ski runs are open in Solden with 20 of the 35 ski lifts also open.
More snow is forecast this afternoon and overnight – bringing around 11cm by tomorrow morning!! It will brighten up by the morning and the sun will make a brief appearance, however, the clouds will close in in the afternoon, bring yet more snow overnight! The snow will ease off into Thursday, but will still bring around 4cm over the course of the day. Temperatures are milder today with highs of minus 5 at mid-station, but will drop dramatically by Thursday to lows of minus 14!
The fresh snow that fell all day yesterday has vastly improved the quality of snow on the slopes and off-piste, compared to the icy patches which were appearing last week. Now you can find thigh-deep powder off-piste – just beware of the avalanche risks and always go with the correct equipment!! On piste, the fresh snow was quite hard work by the end of the day as it got a bit choppy – but with the piste-bashers working over-time to smooth it all out, this morning will be ideal conditions – especially since the sun has come out too!!
Tuesday is the day for traditional Austrian music here in Solden, so make sure you stop off and have a drink on the slopes at the various huts for a bit of Tyroleon atmosphere – complete with accordions, Lederhosen and mustaches, Bubis (blue 2 from 1pm), Loeple Alm (off blue 2 from 1pm), Eugen’s Obstlerhuette (red 19 from 3pm) and Panorama Alm (red 21, from 5pm)! It will definitely get you in the mood for the rest of your holiday!
Tomorrow is the Maxxx Mountain Night Ski Show at 7:30pm with live music until 9pm from traditional trio, the Alpentornadoes, hailing locally from Oetztal – with perfect snow conditions, the night skiing will be a treat!
