Solden snow report 01/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden
There is 214cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 10cm in resort. There was a light dusting of fresh snow yesterday with more due today.
All 37 of the ski runs in Solden are open with 29 of the 33 ski lifts open.
The light snow this morning will become heavier into the afternoon, with 4cm forecast to fall this afternoon at mid-station, and a couple of centimeters more at the top of the ski area. The snow will continue overnight – bringing yet more snow and will become even heavier into Saturday morning. The snow will ease off into Sunday and by the afternoon it will be bright and sunny. Temperatures are dropping by tomorrow, with lows of minus 16 on the glacier (compared to lows of minus 8 today!) and will be coldest on Sunday with lows of minus 20.
The rising temperatures have brought rain to the lower slopes which have resulted in the home runs becoming quite icy. The new snow forecast for today will give the barer slopes good snow coverage and bring back that powdery feeling which was lacking yesterday!! The temperatures are still staying rather high today, despite the snow, but will drop a little into the weekend – which will preserve the fresh snow better.
Today at the Giggijoch Fun-Zone, the Maxxx Mountain Solden Party are bringing you Supermaexxx, an Austrian rock cover band, from 1pm until 4:30pm – so drop by for a drink or two while you’re on the slopes! If live rock music is your thing, then head to LIVE bar this evening from 9:30pm where tonight there will be band, TOI, taking to the stage instead of the usual jam session. Hailing from the neighboring Pitztal, the local band will play a selection of their own songs.
On Monday at Phillip’s après-ski bar, chart-topping, German pop singer – famous for his red cowboy hat – will be entertaining the crowds with hit songs such as ‘Helicopter’ (a favourite on the après-ski scene).
