Selva Snow Report, 21 Jan 2011
Snow at the top of ski area: 150cm on the mountain
Snow depth in resort: 60cm
The snow that we had on Wednesday has made all the difference to the resort and the pistes, perking everything up and putting a spring into the step of the runs. Guests who were out skiing yesterday reported much improved conditions from earlier in the week and it looks like, with our clear blue skies today that an outing around the famous Sella Ronda would be the perfect choice for someone looking for excellent skiing and breath-taking views (and who isn’t?).
Alternatively, today would be the perfect chance to pop on the ski bus and head to Ortisei to catch the bubble up to Alpe de Suisi and make the most of the sunshine on some beautiful intermediate slopes.
The temperatures have dropped quite dramatically from last week making the runs much less heavy and this is set to continue for rest of the week and into next. In addition, we’re expecting some snow on Saturday, Sunday and Monday just in time for our new guests. Along with light winds, this should mean that the Sella Ronda stays in lovely condition well into next week.
There’s plenty to be going on with apart from the skiing for the rest of this week. Tonight the local ice hockey team are playing at home which always proves to be a lively evening. Tomorrow morning there’s a freestyle tour of the snow park and, of course, on Monday we’re all looking forward to the evening’s ski show hosted by our very own Snowboard and Ski School 2000.
