Roll on the 2102 Winter Olympics!
Mars hit the news this week as Nasa scientists found evidence of water existing on the mountains of our nearest planetary neighbour. Very cool.
And where there’s water, there’s the potential for snow, right?! Well, it certainly got the International Olympic Committee thinking about it. At a recent press conference, IOC president Thomas Bach asked the question on all our lips:
CAN WE START SNOWMAKING UP THERE FOR AN INAUGURAL INTERPLANETARY OLYMPICS IN 2102?
So what if it takes 9 months to reach Mars, the IOC aren’t about to let that stand in their way – Bach commented that no matter what the obstacle, “these are the winter Olympics and we owe it to the people of the world to hold such an event on an interplanetary venue.” He then added “it’s vital to the economy and future of the planet Mars to hold an Olympics in the next 100 years.”
Let’s make this happen! #MarsOlympics2102.
Up until 2102..where do you think would be the best venue for us to prepare for the intergalactic Olympics?
We think Flaine would be an ideal training ground – wide open pistes and great snow records…not to mention the 60’s Space Age architecture…
Check out Flaine’s famous and unique buildings HERE.
