Elise our friendly Ski Chalet Specialist in Les 2 Alpes

Ski Range 1,650m - 3,600m

We have two wonderful, high quality, modern chalets here in an ideal location, setting a new benchmark for Les 2 Alpes chalet accommodation. The ski area has the highest skiable glacier in the French Alps from which there are simply breathtaking views and a welcome blue home run with a 2,000m descent, allowing all levels of skier to enjoy the spectacular views and area. The resort itself stretches out on a long plateau at the foot of the slopes and has become known as a Mecca for snowboarders over recent years, being home to the largest snow park in Europe. In addition to this the lifts also serve a plethora of off-piste skiing for the adventurous, including the legendary off-piste of La Grave. But if you are tempted to try La Grave you are strongly advised to take a guide. The picturesque valley village of Venosc is well worth a visit by gondola, but on no account try to ski down to it!

Les Deux Alpes Ski School

Our English-speaking partner ski school in Les 2 Alpes is well-known for its fun teaching and for delivering a quality learning experience. They cater for skiers from 4 years old and upwards and times are as adult lessons. Children aged 4-5 are encouraged to go in the Snow Garden which has heated facilities for necessary rest stops! For children who have progressed beyond the beginner stages then the glacier offers perfect terrain for ‘perfect turns’.

SKIING IN Les Deux Alpes

Ski Range 1,650m – 3,600m

Les 2 Alpes has a vast choice of skiing for all levels of skier and unusually has a number of easier slopes at the top as well as some more challenging runs near the resort. The slopes on the glacier are long and wide and are perfect for practising turns and gaining confidence. And at this altitude they always have excellent snow conditions. There is a fast and efficient lift system including the well known underground funicular up to the glacier itself.

There are a number of nursery slopes just by the village with some free lifts, and ski schools often start new skiers on these slopes before progressing up the mountain and onto the glacier area. Beginners and lower intermediates should fear not though, because all levels of skier now have the option of taking a wide, well-designed blue run with a 2,000m descent all the way from the glacier to the resort itself, following huge investment and two years of construction completed in December 2015.
For intermediates, there is some fast cruising here especially from the glacier to Toura and in the terrain of the north-facing bowls. And you must try the Vallée Blanche (not to be confused with the more famous version in Chamonix!) over the other side of the valley that has gentle blues and reds down to the valley floor. Accomplished skiers will love the higher than average number of black runs including some of the routes back to the resort, one of which always remains unpisted.

Grand Couloir from Tête Moute is not to be missed and you can also head to the Vallons Diable itinerary and the endless powder in the Fee bowl. One of the main attractions of Les 2 Alpes is the off-piste and for a small supplement, you can gain access to the ski domain of La Grave, nearly all of which is glacial and off-piste (mountain guide strongly recommended)! For snowboarding this is a world class resort and with terrain for all levels. You must not miss the snow park, and at 800m long, the largest and best in Europe.
