Obergurgl snow report 25.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Obergurgl

There is 214cm of snow at the top of the Obergurgl ski area with 95cm in resort. The last snowfall was on Tuesday with 3cm falling.

31 of the 34 runs are open here with all 21 of the Obergurgl ski lifts open.

Another couple of sunny days before clouding over on Sunday evening with a fresh covering of snow ready for Monday morning. temperatures are staying rather cool for the next couple of days but will warm up on Sunday as the snow comes.

With bluebird skies this week’s snow will be hard to beat. It is relatively cool up the mountain so even though we have glorious sunshine the snow is far from slushy. In fact quite the opposite. The low temperatures are preserving it rather well. My new favourite area is the “wildlife safari” just above the Nederhuette. For adults and children alike!

Our ski hosting in Solden today looks set to have as good conditions there as we have in Obergurgl. The Ski Club of Great Britain have been spotted around and they wrote a very complimentary article on the area. They even told the world about the Kirchenharhuette, my new (not so) secret spot!
For an alternative to the ski show on Tuesday, why not try the live music at the Putt-In-Bar in Hochgurgl – the highest golf “course” in Europe perhaps?! Free entry at the Hotel Riml.
