Obergurgl Snow Report, 24 Mar 2010

Person Throwing SnowThe snow depth in resort is 39cm with 149cm on the top of the mountain. All runs are open along with all 24 lifts.

Skiing from the top of the mountain down to the mid station of the gondolas presents some great skiing throughout the entire ski area. Visibility is fantastic and the warm weather has presented fantastic opportunities to sample some of the many mountain huts that the resort has to offer, all with their own outdoor seating areas.

The runs to the bottom of the mountain area are getting more difficult to ski with the warm weather, although this should be improved by the fresh snow due to fall over the weekend.

One of the best runs to try is red run 28, which is sheltered from both sun and wind, making for some top quality skiing.

Spring is most definitely on the way to Obergurgl, with the warmer temperatures we have experienced over the past few days set to continue until the weekend. Over the weekend, temperatures on the mountain should fall significantly and heavy snow is forecast to fall on Friday night, leading to some brilliant skiing over the weekend and beyond. Winds are expected to pick up on Thursday and Friday but should decrease significantly by Saturday morning.

One of the best places to stop is the Hohe Mut Hutte. Located at the top of the Hohe Mut gondola, this hut boasts spectacular views looking out across the valley and beyond into the Alps. With a spacious outdoor seating area you could spend all day relaxing here in the sunshine…just don’t forget you’re here to ski.
