Obergurgl snow report 22.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Obergurgl
There is 214cm of snow at the top of the Obergurgl ski area with 95cm in resort. There was a downfall of 6cm in resort yesterday.
91% of the runs are open in Obergurgl and all 21 lifts are open.
The sun has got his hat on, hip hip hip hooray! There may be an odd cloud around but for the rest of the week currently we have the sun every day! Temperatures will be cold and the windchill taking it down even lower – definitely an excuse for a hot chocolate at every possibility! The wind though, will be relatively light.
And still the sweet white stuff comes. We’re at the tail end of the snow fall now and the pistes have just been beautiful to be on. The piste bashers work so hard over night that coupled with the fact that Obergurgl is relatively quiet at the moment the slopes are staying fantastic for most of the day. A couple of the end runs – red 3 for example, can get a bit choppy towards the end of the day, but alternatively taking blue 6 for a nice gentle run to finish the day is always a good one.
Night skiing once again is on tonight alongside the ski show. Last week’s was brilliant – there was such a good atmosphere and it was one of the instructor’s birthdays so the whole crowd sang happy birthday to him. Imagine that?! Let’s hope tonight’s can be just as good. I think with the chilly temperatures most people will be happy just to watch the snow with a gluhwein than brave the slopes!
