Obergurgl Snow Report 19/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Obergurgl.
There is 225cm of snow at the top of the Obergurgl ski area with 99cm in resort. The last snowfall was on Friday with 4cm of fresh snow falling.
91% of the ski runs are open in the Obergurgl ski area with all 21 lifts open.
Light snow for the next few days with temperatures hovering around the minus 13 mark. The weather should then clear up as we head towards the weekend. Wind is set to remain quite light; wind chill factor is only a couple of degrees lower.
The weather has cooled down a bit and the snow is staying nice for us. It’s not too compact nor is it getting chopped up in the late afternoon so some great skiing conditions. Whether you’re at the top of the Wurmkogel or down in Boboland you can find your ideal spot to enjoy your day. Some great powder off – piste too although we would recommend you go off with a guide!
We still have our curling evening, but not for long! The ice rink will close within the next 2 – 3 weeks so you need to get in there quickly! Ice skating is open daily from 16:30 so it’s a nice activity to do after a wonderful day’s skiing. I was chatting to an instructor just a day or so ago and he told me that Obergurgl is experiencing the best snow for 3 years, so this year is definitely the year to come.
Tonight we have night skiing and the ski show – this never fails to be an amazing night. I love the ski show – it’s just brilliant! Although I always forget to put on my extra pair of socks to keep my toes warm.
If anybody is feeling a little adventurous, Hochgurgl has night tobogganing on Thursday night and there is time for a run after dinner. Or, you can go down during the day during normal piste opening times. Both are great fun though!
