Obergurgl Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010

ObergurglThe snow depth is156cm at the top of the mountain and 48cm on the lower Obergurgl slopes.

Conditions throughout Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are excellent. The fresh snow over the last few days has meant that it’s possible to get stuck into some fresh powder both on and off the piste.

With more snow expected over the weekend, this should add to the base layer and create some ideal skiing conditions across the resort. If you’re really after some deep powder, red run 28 and blue run 32 offer some shelter from the wind and help keep the fresh snow firmly on the piste!

The weather in resort is currently cloudy, but blue skies are visible and the sun is out and shining! The clouds are expected to close in through the day, with light snow forecast for this evening. The sun should be back out again by tomorrow morning though, with further snow expected to fall on Sunday and Monday.

The bitterly cold temperatures (with a minimum temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius this evening) we have experienced over the past couple of weeks are expected to ease off by the beginning of next week and bring the temperature level to just below freezing for most of the week.

If you’re looking for a way to relax after a hard day’s skiing, then the Freizeit Arena just down the road in Sölden is definitely worth a visit! Offering an adventure pool with jacuzzi jets and a whirlpool, this is fun for all the family! In addition to the range of bowling, tennis and other sporting activities, you can really unwind in the sauna complex…just remember this is a traditional Austria sauna, swimwear is optional!
