Obergurgl snow report 11.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Obergurgl.
It’s snowing right now! There is 181cm of snow at the top of the Obergurgl ski area and 76cm down in the resort. The last main snowfall was on the 6th January.
91% of the runs are open with 20 of the 21 Obergurgl lifts open.
15cm of snow are due over the next few days; temperatures are cooling down and the wind-chill factor will make it feel even cooler, however the wind will remain light. Freeze levels are well below 1000m.
Obergurgl has some fabulous pistes at the moment and as the resort has quietened down after the Christmas and New Year rush they stay good all day long! Soft snow, a little worn in the most popular places perhaps, but you can glide down them all day long. Red 26 in Hochgurgl brings you from the middle station down to the base station and it’s in brilliant condition at the moment. Blue number 6 is becoming a firm favourite as the downhill home run, but don’t forget to keep your speed up at the bottom or you’ll have to pole the last little bit!
The Nederlumpen at the Nederhuette are eagerly awaiting new arrivals! Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday a live band plays from 16:00. Don’t worry, even non skiers can get involved with a skidoo ride up from the bottom of the mountain and back down again. The ski show on Tuesday is definitely a highlight and night skiing too. Thursday also brings night tobogganing down in Hochgurgl, a 3km lit run, with 25 turns. Then a hot chocolate or a jagertea at the bottom to warm the toes! Some of our guests went up to the traditional Austrian skittles alley last week whilst waiting for their transfer bus – lots of fun for all the family and they loved it! Ask your representative in resort for more information if you like the sound of that!
