Obergurgl Snow Report 05/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Obergurgl
There is 250cm of snow at the top of the Obergurgl ski area with 105cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 24th Feb with around 10cm falling.
There are 91% of pistes open in the Obergurgl ski area with 21 out of 21 ski lifts open.
The blue skies of the first half of the week are set to depart, being replaced by snow showers. With temperatures warming slightly as we head towards the spring it will be mild in the village and slightly cooler on the mountain. Light winds will bring it down, generally being about -5 degrees. Towards the very end of the week the sun should start to reappear.
Our massive dump of snow last week is still doing us proud. We have some excellent snow conditions here at the moment. With such a good base layer at the start of the season and regular snow since then it is holding very well whilst the weather warms up. Glorious sunny days has kept everyone on the slopes so the end of the day you may see some mogul fields on the more used runs but who doesn’t love a mogul or 2?! My new favourite run is red 28: with its own dedicated gondola – and a heated one at that – it is sometimes over looked by my fellow skiers so on a glorious sunny day like yesterday there was hardly a sole to be seen on there! Wonderful.
Thursday brings us an evening of traditional singers and musicians from the Oetztal valley – something a little different perhaps to give you a break from the Nederhuette! The ski show is set to be a good one this evening. With beautiful clear skies the grand finale should be a spectacular display. But of what? You will have to come and see!
