Val d'Isère, FranceTemperatures are warming up with the snow still in great condition with an upper base of 190cm and the home runs, at 115cm.

Its April and there is still snow everywhere! A result of a fantastic season so far… Temperatures are warming up as we move into spring, yet the snow is showing no signs of going anywhere fast. Snow conditions are still good considering the temperatures and time of year, with fantastic skiing to be had all across the ski area. Anyone visiting the Espace Killy in the near future should try the excellent blue run “Henri” over on the Tignes side of the ski area, a fantastic descent into Val Claret that boasts excellent views of the whole resort of Tignes.

More snow is forecasted, coming in scattered snow showers over the next three days, with the majority falling on Thursday evening.

The La Scara competition hits Val d’Isère, where the top 1000 young skiers from 22 countries across the globe will be competing in downhill races on the “O.K.” slope down to La Daille. Expect to see an amazing standard of skiing with some nail biting races!

Skiing the beautiful Espace Killy area at the moment couldn’t be better. The sunshine and mild temperatures ensure for perfect visibility of the surrounding mountain lines and may well leave you with some colour on your cheeks! The skiing is still very much enjoyable, especially up on the glaciers where snow conditions are as good as they always were. The Grande Motte in Tignes is a particularly good place to discover both amazing snow and fantastic views. The real ski experience is topped off with a leisurely lunch on the sunny terraces of the restaurants that dot the mountain, enabling you to watch passers by enjoying the snow and sunshine before you are ready to join in once more.

Following in the trend of the last few days, the sunshine spell is set to continue to bewitch the mountains for the coming week.

All eyes are turning to the Face this evening as the Altigliss Challenge really swings into action. The Altigliss Challenge is THE biggest student skiing and boarding competition in Europe. Top French riders will be battling for glory in a spectacular freestyle skiing competition set to a firework display tonight; not an event to be missed! There are activities for the public and live concerts to attend all this week until the closing ceremony on Friday. The milder evenings with longer sunlight spells perfect conditions to watch such young talent really tear up the pistes.

Snow depth at the top of the ski area of the Espace Killy is 214cm and the lower slopes back into Val have 125cm cover.

Val d'Isère, FranceIt’s been a sunny week in Val d’Isère which is finally about to stop as winter returns this weekend. It is forecasting snow for the majority of the forthcoming week to restore the slopes with its former sparkle. Fresh Powder!

The next 3 days are going to be cloudy with snow showers expected from saturday night and to continue through to Monday night.

Top ski and snowboard pro riders will be in resort for the week competing in Altigliss(Student winter sports competition which is the largest of its kind in Europe.)

The Snowfont will house an exhibitors’ village and a wide range of entertainments.

Val dIsère, FranceExcellent piste conditions with an upper base on the Espace Killy of 220cm and on Val’s lower runs the base is 127cm.

Last week’s top up of snow still remains and is keeping the pistes in excellent condition. The sun is out and visibility is perfect, allowing you to take in the breathtaking views across the Espace Killy whilst cruising the long and winding runs. Anyone visiting the ski area should definitely take a trip down the famous “Double M” run, and ski alongside the gigantic slope style course that has been constructed for the European X Games. If you time it right you may even be able to ski alongside world famous riders competing in the events!

The sun is out and is set to stay out all week! Excellent weather for any spectators at the X Games.

There is one topic dominating conversation in the Espace Killy this week… X Games, without a doubt, the biggest event happening in the Alps this season. Being held in Tignes, just a short ski away from Val d’Isere, witness 150 of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders compete in slopestyle and superpipe events. There is also the impressive “X Games Village” with stands and demonstrations from many snowsports brands, live music, DJ’s and even freestyle snowmobile displays! Expect to see big names such as Simon Dumont, Xavier Bertoni and the flying tomato himself, Shaun White! Definitely not one to miss!

Val d Isere, France15cm of snow fell yesterday and the upper slopes of the Espace Killy now have 223cm and the lower runs of Val have a base of 132cm.

Val d’Isère has had a welcome fall of snow this week, bringing the pistes back to tip top conditions. Today the sun is shining with temperatures around minus 5 degrees – all making for a very pleasant days skiing! Now is a perfect time to ski down to Tignes les Brevieres, as the run has greatly benefited from the recent snow fall, and enjoy a drink on the deck chairs of the Etoile des neiges restaurant while soaking up the sun. Up on the Grand Motte glaciers snow conditions remain superb with extraordinary views which can only be expected at 3400m high! There are some great fun tree runs to explore both in the La Daille area and over in Le Fornet, so it is clear that right now Val d’Isère can offer something for every kind of skier!

Weather forecast for next 3 days is for a few more snow showers but mainly sunny with temperatures rising slightly.

Here in Val d’Isère we are all very excited for next week’s X Games over in Tignes, in which none other than top snowboarder Shaun White will be competing. Aside from that Val d’Isère’s classical music festival – Classival – will also be taking place with a range of concerts for every classical music lover

Val d'Isère, FranceSnow has been falling since late Sunday evening and is due to stop later on today so approx snow depths are currently 221cm on the upper slopes and 140cm in resort.

The slopes in the Espace Killy are currently glistening with a fresh layer of powdery snow, and there is even more on the way! The runs across the ski area are in perfect condition and the off piste is the best it’s been in a long while. Anyone visiting in the near future should take advantage of these conditions and look into booking a guide to explore the wonderful skiing available beyond the limits of the piste.

Any carvers out there who are looking to hone your skills on the piste should head over to “Perce Niege”, a fantastic run over in Tignes, that arguably has the best snow conditions in the area due to it being kept in the shade throughout the morning. A perfect run to practise your carving technique!

Snowfall is due to cease tonight, with a bluebird day forecasted for tomorrow, before snowfall resumes once again on Thursday and Friday.

Dynastar will be holding an event for all the budding slalom racers out there with a free-to-enter slalom race this Friday. Competitors will race against one another in three different categories (men, women and children) for the chance to win a pair of brand new Dynastar skis!

Val d'Isère, France212cm on the upper slopes of the Espace Killy and 120cm on the home runs into Val.

The sunshine continues in Val d’Isère, making ski conditions very pleasant indeed. Despite the continuing sunshine the snow on the Grand Motte and Pissailes glaciers remains in top condition, with some great mogul fields where serious skiers have the opportunity to hone their technique.

For the less dedicated skier, with the arrival of spring, Folie Douce has upped its partying another level with a dance troupe performing, full band dotted around the bar and some brand new beats.

Over in Val Claret the jumps being created for the X Games are taking shape, which is really exciting! With snow forecast for the next few days, March looks set to be a cracking month!!

At the bottom of the Solaise pistes you can find a 3 day wine festival, offering fine wines from Bordeaux to sample

Val d'Isere, FranceThe Espace Killy is boasting an upper snow base of 215cm with 140cm on the home runs of Val d’Isère.

The sun is out and the weather is glorious. Experience the breathtaking views Espace Killy has to offer with unhindered visibility, then in the afternoon pull up a deck chair and relax in one of the many mountaintop restaurants in the ski area. With the weather like this, expect lots of slope-side parties and BBQ’s. The famous Folie Douce will also be putting on its renowned parties every afternoon, so pop along an get your dancing shoes (or ski boots) on!

Guests may also like to venture down the excellent “Double M” run in Tignes. This run will be the location for the slope style event in the upcoming European X-Games, so you will be able to check out the construction of this impressive course as you ski alongside it.

ESF will be putting on their spectacular show once again this week. Expect live music, DJ’s, a freestyle demo and the magnificent torch lit descent of “Face”, performed by all the ESF instructors in resort. Sit back and enjoy the show with a complimentary vin chaud or hot chocolate being served by the instructors!

The recent sunshine has made skiing the Espace Killy a real pleasure, with all deckchairs filled by sun worshippers and ideal conditions for beginners. As the days begin to get longer it is possible to keep skiing until last lifts without worrying about low light for the final run down. The pistes remain in great condition, and even Dahu,the run down to Tignes les Brevieres is still well covered. Over in Fornet, on the Val d’Isère glacier, the snow conditions are still brilliant, with these slopes relatively empty despite it being the Paris half term week. For those keen for adventure, off piste guiding remains a popular choice, with the guides at evolution 2 able to find great pockets of untouched powder.

Weather forecast for next 3 days is for sun! Temperatures are set to rise to plus 1/2 degrees.

Val d’Isère celebrated carnival in style last night with a special Airstar Light night, including face painting and costumes, and a parade. There was a party for the children and live music. Airstar nights take place frequently throughout the season, on a Thursday night when the main street of Val d’Isère is given over to pedestrians with a party atmosphere between 6 and 7.30pm.

Val d'Isère by night15cm of snow fell on Sunday through to Monday morning leaving a depth of snow of 220cm on the upper slopes and 160cm around the resort.

Ski conditions could not be better at the moment! The recent cold front from Eastern Europe has passed, and the temperatures on the mountain have risen, providing excellent opportunities to relax outside on a deck chair at one of the many mountain top restaurants throughout the Espace Killy. The recent top up of snow over the weekend has left the pistes in a fantastic condition. Now is a perfect time to experience zone tranquile, an area dedicated to relaxed skiing on gentle green runs, beginner and advanced skiers can both enjoy the laid back skiing offered by this part of the ski area. At the other end of the scale, anyone looking for a more extreme challenge should investigate the Toviere to Le Chevril off piste guided tour. This is an opportunity to take advantage of the excellent powder skiing conditions currently available, as well as instruction on off piste awareness and a helicopter ride back to resort!

Weather forecast for next 3 days is for Sun, Sun and more Sun! Temperatures will remain just below zero, so the snow will stay in good condition.

ESF will be putting on their spectacular show this week, involving fireworks, DJs, a freestyle demo and a torch lit descent of the face by all the ESF instructors in resort. This show is great fun for all ages and is definitely not one to be missed! (And of course, there will be free vin chaud and hot chocolate being served throughout!)
