Méribel, FranceUpper slopes of the Three Valleys have a snow base of 190cm with snow depth in resort now at 120cm.

Things seem to be returning to normal this week with the English half term, and the Parisian half term both behind us. Ski schools are much quieter this week meaning the whole of the 3 valleys is a lot less busy!
Snow conditions, higher up the valley (and in particular in Val Thorens) are boasting the best of the slope condition sand visibility has been superb for almost 2 weeks now.

Sunny, warm weather is expected over the next week. Temperatures are expected to peak around 6 – 8 degrees in the Sun, with lows of around minus 3-5 in the morning and in the shade. Still no snow predicted this week, but this means that visibility is excellent, and it is exceptionally comfortable sitting outside in the Sun for a drink!

“Fanfare des Goulamans” are set to brighten up Méribel town centre tonight at 6pm with bass drums and electric guitar-a-plenty, all accompanied with a cheery holiday spirit.

Meribel Snow Report, 17 Feb 2012

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Méribel, FranceSnow depth at the top of the ski area is 238cm and around the resort the runs have a base of 155cm with a small topping of fresh snow that fell on Weds.

The narrower blue runs are looking a little busy and bumpy with half term holiday makers. However there are plenty of runs and possibilities for a quiet ski. Wednesday’s fresh snow fall has covered any ice that was appearing and the pistes are nice and reasonably soft. Off pisters should be wary of avalanche risk and take all necessary precautions. The maudit back to the Chaudanne was particularly lovely yesterday and surprisingly quiet.

Today its a bright sunny day with fantastic visibility and Saturday will be much the same. Tonight and tomorrow nights will be clear but Sunday and Monday will see a few centimetres of snow at 2200m and some cloudier nights. Temperatures will be at a maximum of -2 degrees and a minimum of -17 degrees.

If you are skiing in the Meribel valley today there is a chance you could catch the live music on the pistes as an accordionist does his music rounds of the meribel valley.

Even better is the D.T Freestyle contest that is free and open to all today. Registration in front of the down town bar in Meribel-Mottaret centre.
