New lifts in Val Thorens

This forthcoming 2011-12 season is a celebratory one for Val Thorens as it will reach its 40th birthday; this milestone celebration will be bringing with it an exciting new and dynamic chapter for the resort.

In particular the Funitel – this concept was created in Val Thorens in 1989.  Next season will see the arrival of the 4th Funitel in resort, the Funitel de Thorens which features 2 trains and 2 gondolas carrying up to 33 people in each (a passenger flow of 1500 people per hour).

This new Funitel lift will enable passengers to climb from the summit of the Portette chair lift (2795metres) to the col du Bouchet at an altitude of 3000 metres in less than 2 minutes. From here, skiers and boarders can take either the new “Asters” red run or the new “Chocard” blue run. With these 2 new slopes accessible from the Funitel de Thorens, another new slope in the Plein Sud area and further improvements to existing runs, the Val Thorens/Orelle ski area will be significantly increased once more – for next season, 150 km of runs will be available from this resort.

Our Ski Total chalets here are all in prime locations and our guests will benefit hugely from these new  developments.
