The Chalet Specialists
At Ski Total, with 34 years of experience, we see ourselves as the Ski Chalet Specialists.
All of our holidays include flights, resort transfers and catered chalet accommodation.
We give you a comfortable ‘home from home’, informal and relaxed, with great food and service. The friendly camaraderie of a chalet makes a holiday with friends relaxed, convivial and stress-free, and it is here that our specialist knowledge, experience and attention to detail really come to the fore.
We have always prided ourselves upon our selection of hand-picked staff, as service with a smile is a vital ingredient of your Ski Total holiday.
We believe that food is an incredibly important aspect of your holiday, and we set very high standards for our cuisine, with extensive training for all of our staff. With a full skiers’ breakfast to start your day, afternoon tea to welcome you ‘home’ and 4 or 5 course evening meals with a choice of complimentary wine and coffee included to complete the evening, our chalets and Chalet Hotels provide by far the best value in the Alps!
The Ski Total Story
Ski Total was founded in 1982 by two ski enthusiasts who wanted to establish a small, independent specialist ski company, both as a commercial venture and because of their shared love of the mountains and skiing.
Over the next 15 years or so the company grew to offer 36 catered chalets and 12 partner hotels in Europe and North America, offering a range of styles and quality of winter holidays to suit all types of skier and snowboarder.
In 2002, Ski Total was bought by Enigma Travel Group, who had already acquired the family ski specialist Esprit Ski, the previous year, and were looking to expand into the adult market.
From 2003 onwards, Ski Total has focused entirely on quality chalet and Chalet Hotel holidays, with a programme aimed mainly, though not exclusively, at the adult market. The company’s portfolio has grown together with its reputation, and now features over 100 chalet and Chalet Hotels, with over 70% of these offering the sought after benefits of either a swimming-pool, sauna, steam-room or hot-tub.
Following the merger with Esprit, the combined programme has grown rapidly and successfully, with the company becoming the largest independently owned ski tour operator in the UK. A Lapland Santa programme was introduced in 2004, offering short breaks to Finnish Lapland to allow families to visit Santa in the run-up to Christmas and also enjoy the pleasures of winter activities like reindeer and husky sled rides and snowmobile outings.
In 2010 Enigma Travel Group was acquired by Hotelplan, a Swiss holiday company who already owned Inghams, one of the UK longest standing and most respected ski operators, whose programme concentrates on hotel-based holidays across Europe and North America, as well as having an extensive summer Lakes & Mountains programme.
Between the three sister companies in the ‘family’ – Ski Total, Esprit and Inghams – the combined Hotelplan UK group now offers the full range of ski holidays: chalets, Chalet Hotels, locally run hotels and apartments, and caters for couples, families and groups across the entire breadth of the UK ski market.
The group remains 100% committed to keeping each of its brands separate, individual and distinctive, as they continue to develop and grow over the coming years, each building on a shared commitment to creating memorable holidays backed by high quality guest service.
