The latest snow report from our team in Meribel
There is a lot of snow in Meribel at the moment with 200cm at the top of the ski area and a further 100cm down in the resort. The last snow fall was on Sunday with around 2cm falling.
The forecast for the next three days is sunny skies with a maximum temperature of -4 and getting as low as -14. Tomorrow – Patchy cloud to be seen over Meribel during the day with another dump of snow in the evening. Temperatures ranging from -1c to -8c. Friday – Temperatures ranging from 3c – -7c with snow in the morning as a continuation from the night before. After this dump of snow Meribel with have another 8cm of snow to brag about.
Ski conditions could not be better, with a meter of powder up the mountains and a meter of snow down in resort; Meribel has been absolutely covered in a glistening white blanket. You can tell how great the skiing is by the crunch and spring of the snow; even walking over it is a pleasure, let alone skiing. This weather really bodes well for the lead up to Christmas and New Years, giving Meribel a good starting point for the season.
The lifts in Meribel opened on the 8th of December and the runs and lifts which have been open have been used to death by the avid boarders and skiers flocking to the slopes. This will be a product of everyone watching the huge snowfall for days on end before the first lift opened. Meribel has been blessed this year with some of the best possible start of the season snow as a ski resort can get. The town centre has finished all the work needed in preparation for guests and looks simply iconic as a beautiful mountain town. With the Christmas lights already glistening like diamonds in the snow and the assorted bars and shops alive with the buzz of customers and talk of the fantastic skiing, Meribel is truly the place to be in the French Alps this season.
